About Indian Pale Ale

Indian Pale Ale (IPA) is a popular beer style known for its strong hop bitterness, pronounced hop aroma, and higher alcohol content. IPAs originated in England during the 19th century and were initially brewed with extra hops and higher alcohol levels to survive long journeys to British troops stationed in India.IPAs are characterized by their bold and assertive hop flavors, which can range from floral and citrusy to piney and resinous. The hop bitterness is balanced by a solid malt backbone, although some modern IPAs showcase more hop-forward profiles. The color of IPAs can vary from pale golden to amber, and they often have a moderate to high carbonation level. This style showcases the versatility of hops and allows for a wide range of interpretations, including West Coast IPAs with intense hop bitterness, New England IPAs with a hazy appearance and juicy hop flavors, and Black IPAs with roasted malt character alongside hop bitterness.
